KPA Youdescribe

In February 2018, with help from Dr.Joshua Miele and Dr.Yoon Il-Mi, we started the YouDescribe program. Currently, 8 - 12th grade students are volunteering in the program.

Volunteers responsibilities

• Volunteer Terms: June 1st 2025 - May 30th 2026

• Recommends 1 YouDescribe video per every 2 weeks (Minimum of 5 YouDescribe videos per semester)

Volunteer Time

• Volunteer time = 40 minutes per 1 minute video time (includes preparation time)

  • i.e. 5 minute video will give (5 * 40 ) = 200 minutes (3 hours and 20 minutes)

1. Please navigate the YouDescribe site (www.youdescribe.org) and read the tutorial below and follow the instructions. You will need to start with signing up.

2. There are other step-by-step "how to" materials available online so please search for them. (also check out the videos linked below)

Once you are done with YouDescribe work, please use the google form to submit your work.

Quality of work (Very Important!! )

1. Please be advised there are a few important requirements and rules to remember before you begin recording.

2. Note that there is a 200 minute maximum credit limit per video. This means that any video longer than 5 minutes will cap at 200 minutes of volunteer credit.

3. Please avoid videos where there is excessive dialogue as you will not have enough content to narrate. We recommend videos where the dialogue is less than 30% of the entire video. Music videos are not allowed.

4. Please keep logging your activities using the Progress Report Google Form
